Farm Family

Our History

For many of the past hundred years, the Farm was a place where the community gathered. The original Farmhouse and Smokehouse were built c1895 and for much of the 20th century, the farm was a working, dairy farm offering local residents fresh dairy products. After several generations of various use, the Bogles converted the property to an agriculturally oriented farm that enables our family and guests to experience an authentic, rural lifestyle in close proximity to a major city. The Farm is a complete, sustainable environment with domestic animals, organic gardening of fruits, vegetables and flowers, honeybees, ponds teeming with fish, meadows, pastures surrounded by planted pine forests and hardwoods. Guests have come to the Farm from around the world to enjoy this slice of Meriwether County!

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to stay in and to pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”

Meet the Bogle Family

Operating a business was the furthest thing from our mind when our family acquired the farm and began to make improvements.  We invested in building a place for our family and close friends that was accessible for a weekend visit, yet when staying here you felt transported to another place and time.  We looked at beach houses and lake houses---but wanted space…space where kids could run and fish.  We wanted variety:  animals, ponds, fields, gardens, wildflower meadows and forests.  When our friends visited---they wanted to come back--- and bring their families and friends.  Then others wanted to say their vows here and get married.

When our youngest daughter Britney was married here---we saw a vision for helping other people create lifetime memories….and got even more serious about creating a place that others could enjoy on a regular basis.  It has been said that ‘no one gets rich hosting weddings’---but our lives have been made so much richer because of the friends we have made and the hundreds of people who have lifelong memories of being at our farm.

So, what is our philosophy?

Operate our Farm in a way that thrills our own family….be hospitable and kind like we enjoy being treated.  Our promise is when you are at our Farm, we will work as hard as we can to help you feel what we feel when our family is gathered here.  Here, at our Special Place in the World:  Bogle Farms.  We are confident it will give strength to your body and soul.

Thom & Gail Bogle, Founders / Owners

The Bogle Family acquired the Farm property in 2006 for use by our family and friends.  Originally from Florida, our family lived in Alabama, Massachusetts, and New York prior to relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2005 after 5 years living in NYC.  The Farm property was originally purchased in 2006 and our three daughters quickly pointed out that they had no place to stay if they visited and so the Three Sisters’ Cabin area was built in 2008.  They were eager to note that their visits would be very rare---unless we constructed a pool.  So, we built a pool and their “soon to come” families. Indeed, the girls are now married with a total of 7 grandchildren.

Once the cabins and pool were constructed, it wasn’t long before friends wanted to spend time at the Farm, so we began offering to other families for their use.  Within a year or two, people were asking if they could get married at the Farm and enjoy a long wedding weekend, instead of just renting a church or venue for a few hours.  Thus, somewhat by serendipity, Bogle Farm became a destination wedding and vacation spot for thousands of people from around the world.  We have hosted dozens of weddings and thousands of guests from Europe, Asia, Central and South America and from many US states.  Since early 2020, Thom & Gail have lived full time at the Farm in the original, 1880’s farmhouse.

Unlike most commercial ventures, the Farm was carefully designed and built for our personal use. We created what we thought our family would enjoy and never considered anything with our property to be a business.  But, after a decade of guests and glowing reviews---it thrills us to share the Farm with so many people!

Jeff & Jori Anderson

Jeff & Jori were married at the Farm in the fall of 2018.  Shortly thereafter, both Jeff and Jori who teach school full time, offered to work with weddings at the Farm on weekends.  Since then, Jeff and Jori have worked with dozens of couples to make sure there special day and time at the Farm exceeds their expectations.  In 2020, Jeff and Jori had a daughter, and now live in Newnan, GA.
